Toronto Real Estate Market

The real estate market in Toronto is one of the most diverse, and is a fair portion of the cost of living in the city. It is possible to find a small neighbourhood community here with a typical subdivision layout. On the other hand, those wishing to live in the downtown area may love the high-rise apartments and best condos. Toronto single-family homes are still the largest component of this real estate market, but there are also other options. Many people prefer Toronto condos and townhomes because of the lower overall cost, especially in the city's most affordable neighbourhoods.

Some of Toronto's most popular home styles include art deco, Tudor revival homes, arts and craft homes, and split-level homes. Some half-story homes are also present in this area, especially in older sections of the city. Many of Toronto's most expensive condos are in buildings with distinct styles, like art deco. However, some of the more affordable condos can also be found with interesting architectural styles.

There is no doubt the Toronto real estate market is competitive and often changes. It is one of the largest in the country, with a wide range of home prices likely to be present. Home prices may be as low as $200,000 but can easily top $1 million or more in the city's most expensive neighbourhoods. As a large market, there are many homes for sale at any given time, and homebuyers need to be ready to purchase what they desire, especially in more affluent communities.

Another key to the real estate market in Toronto is the new construction industry. There is a lot of demand for new homes in Toronto, but there is not much new development happening in the city itself (outside of high rise developments.) Within the metro area surrounding Toronto, though, numerous new subdivision opportunities are emerging, making this area one of the best for those who want to build a new home.

Some of Toronto's most popular neighbourhoods include Downtown Toronto, The Annex, Yorkville, Kensington Market, and The Beaches. All offer their own special features to make them unique, and several are among the city's most walkable neighbourhoods. For those who want a similar experience outside of city limits, there are several excellent suburbs of Toronto.
